Nokia 6700 Classic Mobile Cell Phone

Posted by Sameer Friday, August 28, 2009 0 comments

Nokia have always had a "bread and butter" phone in their line-up. A mobile phone that could be used by the casual and business user alike with a decent specification and without any unessessary fancy frills or gimmicks.

Probably the first one was the Nokia 6310i from around 7 years or more ago which was one of the first phones to feature Bluetooth wireless technology & had a great car kit too. This was then followed 2 years later by the equally popular Nokia 6230i which did everything that the 6310i did & more and included a colour display. Then, 2 years ago we were introduced to the Nokia 6300 which again filled the position beautifully.

So what comes next ?

Let me introduce you to the latest incarnation, the Nokia 6700 Classic.

With similar but much improved styling cues from the 6300, the Nokia 6700 follows the tried and trusted candy-bar design with smooth flowing lines and a flush keypad. It's light at just 116g and has a mighty impressive battery life of 5 hours talktime and 300 hours of standby time - far better than the 6300 of old. The menu is as intuitive as you would expect for this model - no need for an instruction booklet with this phone and is quick and easy to zip through via the centrally mounted 5 way navigation key

The Nokia 6700 is a GSM quad band handset and 3G enabled too so no matter where you are, you can get a signal and send & recieve data at broadband-like speeds too.

One main advantage over the 6300 is the use of a 5 megapixel camera. Quality photographs and video are now guaranteed as it has autofocus, LED flash, Flash modes, dedicated camera key and 4x digital zoom to name but a few.

Fortunately the Nokia 6700 has virtually no limitations when it comes to memory as it is expandable via microSD upto 8Gb which is more than enough for most requirements. This is particularly useful when it comes to storing your videos, photos, music and much more without impairing the speed of use of the phone. You can choose to store items to either the phone or the memory card so you remain in total control of what goes where. A full multimedia player is standard & it has an RDS FM radio installed too, so tuning into the latest news or music is a breeze.

The Nokia 6700 comes with Integrated A-GPS & Nokia maps so you can use it as a navigation device but obviously, having just a 2.2" display, it isn't going to be the greatest device in the world for this purpose.

In all, we would highly recommend the Nokia 6700 as it shows that Nokia are continuing their tradition of producing a mobile phone that suits all tastes and pockets too whilst remaining easy to use and boasting a great specification.

Black Berry 8800 – More Attractive

Posted by Sameer Wednesday, August 19, 2009 0 comments

Black Berry mobile phone a new technology mobile phone. It has lots of features. It has larger 2.4-inch screen, a bigger battery for longer talk time, and a real QWERTY keyboard. GPS capability makes Black Berry 8800 a unique. We were very impressed with the bundled TeleNav GPS Navigator.
It has very natural-sounding female voice and will tell you the distance before the next turn and alerted us at just the right time before the turn itself. TeleNav also pulls up addresses from your contact list. The local search function worked well, too, allowing us to map a business address, navigate to it, or dial the number.
BlackBerry 8800 other standard-issue features include an organizer (address book, calendar, memo pad, task list) that syncs with Outlook and a Web browser. This is not a 3G device, we enjoyed very good performance on Cingular’s EDGE network and the browser loads text before images, sites begin load within ten seconds, and articles on those pages took only about six seconds to pop up.
Its audio quality when making regular voice calls was generally good. Anybody didn’t complain, but it seems slight fuzziness on end of the line during some conversations. When one left a voicemail on a landline phone, the message sounded clear when played back, if a little faint. Black Berry 8800 can be used to make conference calls, and the voice-activated dialing worked quite well even over Bluetooth.
Pushing new e-mail to our Inbox automatically. The Black Berry 8800 allows users to set up ten personal and corporate e-mail accounts and features the easiest setup of any smart phone. It has also attachment support and continues to be excellent, as you can view Word, Excel, PDF, and JPEG files. But in it there was no option to edit or create Office documents, at least not without third-party software.
Lastly, the Black Berry 8800 is an excellent smart phone and a surprisingly good navigator, which offers both HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity. Black Berry 8800 has up to five hours of talk time, and GPS capability. It is its unique capability.

Motorola - the History

Posted by Sameer Tuesday, July 21, 2009 0 comments

The history of Motorola, Inc. can be traced back when Paul V. Galvin and Joseph E. Galvin (his brother) bought a business that deals with battery eliminator in Chicago. It was named Galvin Manufacturing Corporation in September 1928 and at present it is already recognized as one of the many American multinational companies that became a part of Fortune 100.

Going back to the history of Motorola, Inc. when it was still called Galvin Manufacturing Corporation, electronic devices and other products that run on electricity were manufactured and produced.

As for the name Motorola, the etymology is from the word ‘motor' which means for car and the word ‘ola' which means sound. Before Motorola mobile phones dominate the telecommunication industry, Galvin production concentrated on producing radios and receivers for vehicles until they manufactured televisions in 1947. It was also in 1947 that the company changed its name from Galvin Manufacturing to Motorola as it continues to produce communication mediums, mobile phones are yet to be introduced.

The historical influence of Motorola products was even included in the expedition to the moon when Neil Armstrong communicated from space to the earth using the Motorola Radio. And it was in 1969 that Motorola radio equipment equipped the operations of National American Space Agency or NASA.

The Motorola mobile phone was finally introduced in 1973 when the Motorola had the first demonstration of its first mobile. And for the record of behind the scenes events, the first Motorola mobile phone deals were in fact operated using radio technology and computer technology. From then on, Motorola mobile phone deals have gone smaller and smaller and more stylish and innovative until it reached our present generation.

The first ever Motorola that has small features and weighed only 88 grams was the StarTAC which until now is considered to be light among other mobile phones. The innovation and evolution of more Motorola mobile phone deals never stop and in 2000 Motorola and General Instrument Corporation has been united to develop and improve their services until they came up with Motorola v60 and then introduced it in the market. The Motorola v60 mobile phone is in fact considered as the first ever metal mobile phone that was made available to other cellular networks such as CDMA, GSM, and TDMA.

More and more Motorola mobile phone deals are introduced in the market and Cross-Technology or PoC product line extended the features and services of Motorola. The feature "push to talk" connectivity became just a minor innovation when more powerful interactivity features were introduced. Such features include the GPRS, CDMA2000, 1X, and the power of WIFi network technology.

Motorola also engage itself in expanding its connectivity through broadband connectivity and the video phone that are seen in Motorola mobile phone deals that have video phones.

As for the new line up of Motorola mobile phones that will hit the market directly to its heart, Motorola mobile phones are now comprised of W230, ROKR380, Motorola Q9h together with the newest Motorola devices software, applications, and services.

Choosing a Business Mobile Phone

Choosing a Business Mobile Phone

When choosing a mobile phone for personal use, the buyer is usually looking for the latest style, the hottest color and all the little extra features that a phone can offer them. When choosing a phone for business, however, it is best to choose a phone that suits the needs of the business, not one with a lot of extra gadgets that you will probably never even use.

When choosing a business phone, the main features that you may want to look for

include:

1. Large screen

2. Easy to use interface

3. Email capability – preferably via Blackberry Mobile email

4. Calendar capability

5. Camera if you are in a business that needs a camera phone

Obviously these are features that you would not be looking for on a standard phone for personal use but you just never know when any or all of these features may come in handy for your business. There are several other things to keep in mind when looking for the perfect business mobile phone for you.

A company that you may want to look into for help in finding the perfect business mobile for you is Telaustralia. They carry phones from top manufacturers such as Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Samsung, LG, and 02 mobile phone hand sets. Also you can choose to get a phone for free with a 24 month plan or contact them to purchase one of their phones or handsets outright.

Nokia is the traditional market leader for Mobile Phone handset sales, but over the past 2 years has faced much stiffer competition from the likes of Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Samsung who’s mobile phone handsets are gaining popularity. For typical Business use, longevity and reliability we still recommend Nokia Mobile Phone handsets followed by Sony Ericsson.

If you want your Business Mobile Phone handset to be a useful Business tool and not a play thing full of gadgets you wont use, heres a few tips that may be useful in selecting your next phone.

Consumers usually select a mobile phone based personal preference with brand, size, colour, flip phone or not etc. For a Business user however, selecting the right Business Mobile Phone handset to do the job should always be a matter of substance over style.

As we have number portability in Australia you are no longer locked into one network or provider for your Business mobile Phones. With telaustralia you can bring your Business Mobile phone with you or we can provide a handset as part of your deal and have access to the Telstra Mobile Phone Network or the Optus Mobile Phone Network.

Some of the features you need for your Business mobile Phone are -

Do you need a flip phone or block style?

Usually this is just personal choice but in some cases there are functional issues that dictate. eg. are you in an environment where there is a lot of dust? A flip Phone or clam shell style may be more suitable as it closes after use and this may reduce (but not altogether eliminate) the amount of dust that gets into the key pad and screen. Are you likely to drop or have impact on the mobile phone? If so a rubberized tradesman type of mobile phone may be more suitable.

Battery Life

Long battery life is essential for your business mobile phone, especially when traveling or on the road a lot. There is nothing worse than running out of charge at an inappropriate time - usually in the middle of an important call.. Look for mobile phones that use a lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery rather than a nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) one. Li-ion batteries weigh less and provide 10 to 20 percent better performance than their NiMH counterparts. You'll want a mobile phone with a rated talk time of at least 3.5 hours, preferably closer to 5 hours. If your mobile comes with a desktop charger, shell out for the travel charger since it's significantly smaller and easier to pack for business trips.

Travel

If your travels take you overseas, you'll want a tri-band GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) Mobile Phone, which operates on networks (GSM 900/1800/1900) in Europe, Asia and the US.

Features

You'll also want a handset that features a hefty address book -- at least 300 names with support for multiple entries per contact. Some Mobile Phones allow you to include information such as email, Web and street addresses with your contacts. You can enter all that information one key at a time, or you can get a Mobile Phone with the ability to synchronize with Microsoft's Outlook on your PC. Nokia PC Suite allows you to load address book and other software on to your lap top and back up as required and import other information such as calendars, pictures & songs to your phone.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth equipped Mobile Phones are a must these days. If your PC or handheld doesn't feature integrated Bluetooth support, you can purchase an adapter to add this functionality. Then you can browse the Internet using your Mobile Phone as a wireless modem. You can also use Bluetooth to synchronize phone numbers and addresses between your Mobile Phone and other devices.

Another advantage with Bluetooth is that many cars now come equipped with Bluetooth hands free so there no need to get handsfree kits wired up in your vehicle. If you vehicle isnÕt already equipped with Bluetooth, portable and rechargeable handsfree kits such as Blue Ants Supertooth 2 are available and very low cost. These usually clip to your sun visor and are portable from car to car.

Internet

Even better, skip your notebook altogether. Fast Internet access is rapidly becoming a common feature in mobile phones. Most GSM Mobile Phones support GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) networks, which offer always-on Internet content and data services, enabling access to Web browsing, email and multimedia content at around 56Kbps. 3g Data is carried at speeds of up to 3.6Mbps with planned speeds in Australia of over 40Mbps using HSDPA. Many mobile phone manufacturers including Nokia & Sony Ericsson are now taking advantage of the RIM BlackBerry Licencing and including Blackberry Mobile email on their mobile phones.

If you spend most of your time away from the office meeting with clients, you may want to consider a smart phone, which combines mobile phone and handheld functions in one unit. These phones are larger and much more expensive than standard handsets, often costing as much AU$1,200, but they eliminate the need for two separate devices.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Mobile Phone

Posted by Sameer Friday, July 3, 2009 0 comments

It was announced back in February last year but until now, Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X1 touchscreen iPhone baiter has remained tantalizingly out of reach. With its full QWERTY keypad and handwriting recognition, is it enough to bruise Apple mobile phone?

Let’s take a look at Sony Ericsson
Xperia X1 mobile phone’s panel beater. Underneath the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 mobile phone’s attractive, new-fashioned touchscreen there’s Windows Mobile operating system. It’s hiding behind a snazzy customizable interface called Xperia Panels, which softens the blow a bit, but you’re only ever a prod away from being dumped into Windows Mobile misery.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 mobile phone sports handwriting recognition to turn your stylus scribbles into on-screen text. It’s a welcome alternative to touchscreen typing, but there’s also a full QWERTY keyboard that slides out from under the screen.

Hopping aboard the interweb express on a Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 mobile phone is a doddle. It’s got Wi-Fi built in, plus HSDPA for when you stray from the safety of a hotspot. It’s got faster uploading HSUPA tech as well which, if your network carrier supports it, will make uploading pics from the 3.2MP snapper quick as a flash.

If you spin the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 mobile phone around, you will find a 3.2 megapixel camera. This isn’t one of Sony Ericsson’s CyberShot cameras, so you’ll have to make do without all the fancy gubbins come with those such as Car Zeiss lens or xenon flash. However, the autofocus should keep your snaps sharp.

Inbox interrogators are well served by the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 mobile phone’s support for push email, which delivers missives direct to your mobile phone. Thanks to Windows Mobile it’ll also synchronize up with your computer to share calendars and contacts.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 mobile phone maintains its sleek figure thanks to a full QWERTY keyboard that’s cunningly hidden away round the back. When called upon it slides out to transform the mobile phone into a powerhouse of pocket-able typing. With looks no other smartphone mobile phone can compete with, Windows Mobile fans have a mighty prospect in store if the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 mobile phone lives up to its specifications and style.

This mobile phone has a battery that can stand up to 10 hours of calls with 833 hours of standby. It’s size is quite bulky though however it weighs only 158g.

How to Unlock Nokia Mobile Phone

Posted by Sameer Sunday, June 21, 2009 1 comments

Typically when you purchase a cell phone, the company that sold you the phone (ex: AT&T) 'locked' the phone before you bought it, so you can only use it on their network. This means that you can't use your phone on any other network, even if you change the SIM (which is an abbreviation for Subscriber Identity Module) card. The SIM card is the little piece of plastic that identifies your phone to the cellular network. Changing your SIM card to have your Nokia Phone work on another network is useful especially if you want to travel to another country and want to buy a pre-paid SIM card so you can have cell phone access without roaming charges. There are services that offer to provide unlocking capabilities for a fee, but don't pay for them! You can do it yourself for free, which is the perfect price.

1. Before trying anything else, contact your service provider and ask for an unlock code as per your nokia model. Usually, if you've been a customer of theirs for some time, they will provide you with free mobile unlock codes for your mobile phone. This is, by far, the best way to get your nokia phone unlocked.
2. Download software to generate the unlocking code. Software is available on some websites for free and some pay websites that also offer support if things go wrong. See external links below.
3. Find the Serial number of the NokiaPhone, also known as your IMEI number. This IMEI number help you to find nokia unlock codes for various nokia models. This can be done by either removing the back of your cell phone and looking underneath the battery, or simply by typing in *#06# into your cell phone. It should be something like: 010072321539976/07961780836
4. Using the software you have downloaded, enter in your Manufacturer (which is in this case Nokia), and sliding the card out. Put the battery back in and power the phone on.
5. You will see a message "Insert SIM Card". Enter all of the characters you see in your code, including the # symbols. To get a 'p' press * 3 times, to get a '+' press the * key 2 times, to get a 'w' press the * key 4 times. Disregard any spaces in the code.
6. In order to unlock your phone you generally need to enter only one code. Start with the first one. If your phone is not unlocked by typing the first code (MCC+MNC), use code "7" (Multilock)
7. Once you have finished entering a code that works you should see a message that says "SIM is not restricted" or "Restriction off" message depending on your model. If not, try entering another code. Message "Cannot undo restrictions" means the phone is "hard-locked" and cannot be unlocked by code.

Warning
• Be sure to backup important information from your Latest Mobile Phones [Contacts, Messages etc].
• Make copies of all files downloaded from your phone *before* they are modified. If something is wrong with the modified copy, you can reload the unmodified one to go "back to normal" in many cases.

Nokia N73 Vs. Nokia N82

Posted by Sameer Thursday, April 2, 2009 0 comments

At first glance, both the Nokia N73 and Nokia N82 seem pretty similar phones. Admittedly with different designs, but their sizes are about the same, with the Nokia N73 being slightly longer, and the Nokia N82 being slightly thicker. Nothing noticeable to be honest, just a few millimetres here and there that only really putting the two side by side would allow anyone to notice. Still, ever millimetre counts, yet in this case seeing as they are both either shorter or thinner it is hard to say which millimetre counts more.

Throughout this entire comparison of Nokia N73 vs. Nokia N82, it should be remembered that the Nokia N82 is much more recent, and therefore, no surprise, would end up the clear winner in most regards.

Feature Comparison: Nokia N73 vs. Nokia N82

With roughly the same sized screen and the exact same resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, the main difference between the displays of the Nokia N73 and Nokia N82 lie in their colours. Where the Nokia N73 only offers 262,144 colours, the Nokia N82 on the other hand totally trumps this with a visually stunning 16.7 million colours. Clear winner is the Nokia N82.

Also, the cameras available to both these models differ considerably. Again, the Nokia N82 seems to be considerably ahead with a 5.0 megapixel camera that comes complete with all the trimmings of autofocus, Carl Zeiss optics, Tessar lens, xenon flash, and so on. Unfortunately, the Nokia N73 cannot match this, although it does weigh in quite reasonably with a 3.2 megapixel resolution, and some of the above features. Still, it can't match the raw power (in resolution) of the Nokia N82's camera.

In storage capabilities, both offer microSD support, which is great, however the Nokia N82 has acres more of internal storage. At 100 MB against the Nokia N73's 42 MB, it lines up with over twice the storage. Being able to store that much more offers a huge advantage to the Nokia N82 users, but it is not crippling for the Nokia N73 due to the fact that the majority of storage on both mobile phones would, realistically, come from the microSD cards.

Once again, taking connectivity into account, the Nokia N82 comes out on top. While the Nokia N73 does offer a variety of connectivity options, from USB and Bluetooth to infrared, the Nokia N82 offers all that as well as WLAN and HSPDA options. Both of the latter are very much superior and much more 'high end'.

Obviously, the Nokia N82 is a hand and foot ahead of the Nokia N73, in the Nokia N73 vs. Nokia N82 comparison; however it also costs much more, being newer. About 150 dollars separate the two models, and certainly that seems about right in terms of the comparison. In short, the Nokia N73 is definitely inferior to the Nokia N82 but in the bigger picture it is still a solid and very feature packed mobile phone that, if price is an issue, may be the better option as it offers about the same value for money that the N82 does.

Nokia 7380: Love at First Sight?

Posted by Sameer Thursday, March 12, 2009 0 comments

Nokia has high hopes you'll fall head over hills in love with their 7380 model cell phone. They packed nearly every feature they have into this little gadget, what's not to love about this L'Amour series model? Well, the navigation for starters.

The first question you'll ask is "Where's the keypad?" The answer there isn't one. What you get is a menu button on the left, a Send and End button on the right and a circular dial that iPod users will be very familiar with. There is an additional Select button in the center of the iPod-esque dial. That's it for navigation.

Making a phone call, if the name isn't already in your contact list, requires you to navigate to the Call menu then scroll through a number line to select the seven to ten numbers you need to make a call. Scroll, select, scroll, select, scroll, select... The process easily takes three times as long to dial than on a traditional keypad phone.

Text messages are just as difficult, if not more so. Without a keypad, you have to navigate through the alphabet for each letter you want to input. Nokia did try to make this easier by adding a recognition feature that lists the five most-used letters at the start of the alpha scroll. Still, sending a text message is a real pain on the 7380.

To counter the text messaging deficiencies, Nokia added voice messaging. This is great if you want to tell someone something without giving them a chance to talk back. If you text message to avoid making a sound, voice messaging doesn't help. If you text message because the recipient can't access sound features on their phone, voice messaging won't help. You'll probably find it easier to just call someone than to send an voice or text message.

The camera feature is much easier to use than basic and even mid-line mobile phones. Snapping shots is just two quick button pushes and one scroll away. The 2 megapixel camera
takes a good picture in sunlight, though the contrast is a bit on the heavy side. Night mode is so-so. Pictures up-close of friends in a pub or nightclub are better than many other camera phones but don't expect to catch Kodak quality moments on this (or any) mobile.

You can record up to an hour of video, which is quite surprising for this little bugger but the quality is, well, that of a mobile phone. Mediocre compared to camcorders but pretty good for a phone.

If you can overlook the complexity of dialing calls and sending text messages then you probably will fall in love with the Nokia 7380. Voice dialing and a hands-free speaker feature are both included. The phone supports tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz networks.

The voice dialing feature has made momentous strides over prior generational phones. Gone is the steep learning curve for both the user and phone. Gone are most of the problems associated with background noise. This almost makes up for the lack of keypad...almost.

As a music device, the 7380 is sufficient. The included bud earphones double as an FM stereo antenna. The sound quality is better than nearly all mobile phone devices on the market. An integrated music player supports MP3 formatted music files. Don't give away your iPod just yet, though, since the measly 52 MB of storage won't allow you to use the 7380 as tune storage.

The included browser would be wonderful if the screen size wasn't smaller than the diameter of a dime. The colors of the screen are sharp and resolution of 208 x 104 pixels. The horizontal positioning of the rectangular display makes it easy to view landscape pictures and menus but it's quite awkward to navigate web pages with portrait orientation.

Speaking of the display screen, at first glance you may think they forgot yours. It's behind the reflective finish of the face of the phone, much like a one-way mirror. You will have almost zero screen visibility in direct light and only marginal visibility in natural sunlight. In the dark, though, it is bright, colorful and crisp.

Bluetooth is included and is the only out-of-box connectivity option. There's no USB port on the 7380. Bluetooth connections are strong and stable.

Battery life doesn't live up to Nokia's claims, no big surprise there. While Nokia declares 3 hours of talk time and 10 days on standby, tests demonstrate a 1.5 hour talk time life and just 3 days on standby. Nokia uses their standard battery charger cable and port, great if you've upgraded to this model from another Nokia.

Now onto what you'll really amore about this model its high-fashion sense. This device doesn't look like a phone, it looks more like a television remote or lipstick case. About four and a half inches long, one and a quarter inches wide and an inch thick, this sleek new design will make any owner stand out. Weighing in at less than three ounces, it's not only small but light.

The design and construction of the phone is much more solid than you might think when you pick up this little phone. While you shouldn't abuse this mobile, it does stand up to regular usage.

Nokia packed a suite of typical applications in this little gadget. The phonebook holds 1000 names and it synchronizes with Microsoft Outlook flawlessly. Calendar, alarm clock and to-do list are all included. Games and Java applications are noticeably absent. Word processing is nearly impossible on this phone so Nokia excluded that feature as well.

The faux leather backing looks fancy but is really much more like a dashboard cover than leather. The included carrying case isn't top of the line but it is easy on the eyes and smooth to touch. Lining the carrying case is a felt-like fabric that makes it a breeze to remove the many fingerprints the phone seems to attract.

All in all, this is a phone for those who want to stand out in a crowd or the casual user but not a business person. The price tag of $500 might be a bit more than you want to spend on a fashion accessory, though.
